Walking Today in the Footsteps of Yesterday
Continuing his mission, feeding the needy & poor.
In the Footsteps of Reb Shayele is a heartfelt initiative inspired by the legacy of the holy tzaddik, Reb Shayele of Kerestir zt”l. Revered throughout the Jewish world for his boundless generosity, compassion, and legendary hachnasas orchim, his warm home and open heart continue to inspire countless people today.
Every year, thousands travel to his kever seeking yeshuas. But the real question remains:
How do we walk in his footsteps? How do we live the values he embodied?
A group of men who feel deeply connected realized that the most authentic way to honor him is not only by visiting his kever, but by continuing his mission, feeding the needy and poor.
And so, the idea was born—a growing initiative that, with Hashem’s help, will continue to expand into many meaningful activities in his merit, carrying forward the kindness and compassion that defined his life.
This coming March, participants will gather in Kerestir and begin a 10-kilometer marathon walk-starting at the kever of his holy Rebbe, Rav Hershele Liska, and ending at his kever.
This symbolic path reflects more than a physical journey.
It is a commitment to walk in the footsteps of Reb Shayele, to take his legacy and bring it to life through real action, real giving, and real heart.
The Journey:
A 10 KM Walk in His Footsteps
Every step taken represents a meal for someone in need.
Every kilometer walked reflects another family being supported.
Every participant becomes a partner in Reb Shayele’s lifelong mission of kindness.

All funds raised through the Walk-A-Thon go directly to Kimcha DePischa for needy families in Ramat Beit Shemesh. The funds will be distributed via Chasdei Yomtov, the joint project of all the Kupas in RBS that provides food for needy families before Pesach and Sukkos, ensuring that families can celebrate Yom Tov with dignity, warmth, and a full table-exactly the way Reb Shayale would have wanted.
Participants join by committing to raise 10,000 NIS. All expenses are fully covered, including round-trip flights, transportation, accommodation, and food throughout the journey.
